The aim of the first briefing dedicated to the new opening in the European Union after the appointment of the new authorities was to present strategic assumptions of the European Commission led by Jean-Claude Juncker. The main aims as well as the strategies of their implementation were set forth by Ewa Synowiec, Director of the European Commission Representation in Poland, who pointed to the fundamental importance of job creation in the EU and elaborated upon Juncker’s initiative directed at a gradual increase of the level of investment. The economic programme of the new Commission was commented upon by the invited experts.
Jugaad in Hindi means resourcefulness, entrepreneurship. This feature describes very well not only Indians, but also Polish people – said Małgorzata Bonikowska, President of Centre for International Relations, during a conference in Delhi devoted to economic cooperation between Poland and India. The aim of the meeting was to analyse trade and investment relations between the two countries, as well as the prospects for Polish and Indian companies. The conference was inaugurated by Jerzy Witold Pietrewicz, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Economy, and concluded by Tomasz Łukaszuk, Polish Ambassador to India.

The European Union has a new parliament since May, a new Commission since November chaired by Jean-Claude Juncker, and a new President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, since December 1st. The new EU authorities face serious challenges, especially that despite many years of efforts to integrate Europe, the continent remains divided. Today, the most important issues concern economic growth, competitiveness and innovation of companies as well as jobs for young people. Hints on what can be done to achieve these objectives are provided in the report "The Future of European Integration - A Reform Call", developed by an international team of experts and Günter Verheugen.

It was attended by representatives of the Polish government and the governments of African states as well as national investment agencies, representatives of local government and business organizations, ambassadors of African countries and entrepreneurs from Africa and Poland. The main goal of the Congress was to promote development of business relations between Poland and Africa. For this event, in cooperation with THINKTANK, CIR prepared a Lexicon of African Countries in English. The organizers of the Congress recognized potential, good offer and attractiveness of all African countries, which in their opinion should have better access to the European market in order to increase their competitiveness and enjoy benefits of increased trade volume. The Congress also included an expo where Polish and African companies showed their offer and opportunities.
