Today the Prime Ministers of Canada and China have met in Beijing. It is the first official visit of Justin Trudeau in China. The purpose of Trudeau’s visit was mainly to improve economic ties between the two countries. The men have so far discussed trade issues as well as the case of Kevin Garatt, Canadian citizen held in China due to accusations of espionage. Chinese Prime Minitser Li reassured Canadianas that the two countries will stay in dialogue as to the case of Garatt, and that he can expet lawful treatment in China.

Although no Chinese nationals were hurt, Hua Chunying, a spokesperson for China’s foreign ministry, said China was incredibly distressed about the attack. It is presumed that the attack ensued by extremists from the Uighur ethnicity in reaction against the Chinese rule in Xinjiang. China has been waging war in this region since 2014 in the sake of protecting its people against terrorist acts from Uighur extremists. In the escalation of this conflict, the Uighur minority believes that China has reverted to targeting conservative Islam.

Second voting round is going to be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday. Last round conducted by 335 people council consisting as well provincial heads of state will take place on the same day at 4 p.m. The winner is going to replace current President of Estonia Thomas Hendrik Ilves who is going to resign in October after his second term.
