Pakistani paramilitary forces have taken over the offices of the MQM (Muttahida Qaumi Movement) party in Karachi. Consequently five of the party leaders have been arrested. The turbulences followed a violent crush of the MQM workers on the ARY News television office, allegedly called for by MQM chief Altaf Hussain. Hussain accused the media of not covering a six-day hunger strike. According to the Pakistani sources Hussain is guilty of expressing anti-Pakistani slogans.

On Monday August 22, the president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, arrived Poland on a two-day visit. The focus of the visit was on economy cooperation between two countries and discussion of East Europeanforeign policy. President Andrzej Duda described the visit as “extremely important and significant” and reminded the audience that is the first such visit since 2002. North Korea has yet again threatened with a nuclear attack on Washington and Seoul. A bomber targeted a wedding guests as they danced in the street, last night in Gaziantep, Turkey. The bomb wounded 69 people, Mr Erdogan added, 17 of them seriously. Mr Erdogan said the so-called Islamic State (IS) was behind the attack, which targeted a Kurdish wedding party. Gaziantep, near the Syrian border, is known to have several IS cells. He added that the bomb was carried out by a 12 to 14-year-old child. IS is known to have operatives in Gaziantep.
