On Friday a deal was reached between Colombia's Government and truck drivers, which ended a 45-day strike that paralyzed transport throughout the country. It includes 27 points, containing improved economic conditions, vehicle maintenance, and working conditions. "The immobilization of cargo transport has been lifted," Transport Minister Jorge Eduardo Rojas told reporters. Trucking union president Orlando Ramirez said the deal "satisfied the needs" of the sector. The truckers strike was the longest one in Colombia’s history.

On Tuesday, July 26, the Egyptian government has announced that it is close to finalising an IMF loan deal worth $12 billion. The IMF delegation tasked with working out the final deal is scheduled for a two-week visit on July 30. The stock exchange in Cairo has reacted favourably to the announcement and the main equity index has surged 3,3% immediately after the announcement and a further 4,8% on Wednesday morning. Besides the $12 billion, the deal will also enable Egypt to tap into other sources of financing, including the World Bank and the African Development Bank, of the 3-year development plan announced in February. The Egyptian government plans to acquire $21 billion in total in external financing over this time span.

The UN Humanitarian Coordinator, Jamie McGoldrick, has called on Tuesday, July 26 for an immediate humanitarian pause in Ta’izz governorate in Yemen in order to forestall a humanitarian crisis precipitated by renewed clashes. McGoldrick has expressed particular concern over the ‘reinforcement of the closure on Taizz city’ and ‘the escalation of fights in the area of Al-Sarari’. The humanitarian pause will facilitate the evacuation of the wounded and the delivery of medicine and other humanitarian aid.

Turkish government started to work on new constitution – as „Sabah” informed. Prime Minister of Turkey – Binali Yildirim told, that Justice and Development Party (AKP) together with Republican People’s Party and Nationalist Movement Party from opposition agreed to insert certain changes. According to Prime Minister, the work on a new constitution is „an aim and duty” of all political parties in Turkey. Binali Yildirim also added that one of the changes in the constitution will be a transfer of Coastal Guard and Turkish Gendarmerie from Ministry of Defence to the Ministry of Interior. Earlier, the Turkish government agreed on 60 amendments to the new constitution, but according to Yildirim continuation of this process stopped.
