During the Republican National Convention on the previous week, Donald Trump has been selected as a candidate for president from Republican Party, this week starting from the 25th of July the Democratic National Convention started in Philadelphia. Predictably, Hillary Clinton has been nominated and selected for a president from Democratic Party. And the Vice presidents’ picks has been made by both candidates. From the side of Republican Party Trump chose Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana , and just today Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has selected U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia as her running mate.
Mike Pence fits the criteria someone who has federal elective experience so they understand how to make sure that they can get his legislative agenda done. Moreover, he is appreciated to be that experienced mate who has no same ideas with Mr. Trump and may create a great symbiosis of viewpoints.
On the other hand, Clinton’s general election campaign slogan -- "Stronger Together" -- the Democratic convention will look to highlight Clinton's career and the importance of working together to accomplish America's goals. For realizing these goals she chose Virginia Senator Tim Kaine.
Her campaign chair John Podesta claims, that the candidate needs to be someone who, whenever they walk into a room, you are glad to see them and want to have them as part of any conversation.
Kaine launched his political career on the city council, then became the mayor of Richmond. He went on to win three elections in a red-leaning swing state, serving as Virginia’s lieutenant governor from 2002 to 2006 and governor from 2006 to 2010. He was elected to the Senate in 2012, after a stint as chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC).
