Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leader of the current ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in India, declared a new opening in the central government's policy towards the eight north-eastern states (the so-called Eight Sisters). Before entering the Indian Union, they were separate entities and there are still local separatist movements present there. The "Act East" program is a continuation of a program announced by the previous BJ party in-office in the 90s - "Look East". Modi visited 4 states for several days, where he inaugurated a new rail line in Assam, gave a speech at the end of the Sangai festival in Inphal, the capital of Manipur, and opened the Hornbill festival in Kohima, the capital of Nagaland.

The protection of intellectual property and its execution is the basis of a competitive economy. CIR and the center for dialogue and analysis THINKTANK together with the Polish Patent Office co-organized the conference "The Visegrad Group - China. Intellectual property in the business strategy". During the meeting, the great importance of intellectual property protection when entering the Chinese market was stressed as well as the fact that Polish companies still have a low awareness of the significance of this aspect of the business. Andrzej Turkowski, analyst at CIR, moderated the panel summarizing the conference.

On 27-28 November 2014 the POLAND AFRICA 2014 Congress took place in Łódź. It was attended by representatives of the Polish government and the governments of African states as well as national investment agencies, representatives of local government and business organizations, ambassadors of African countries and entrepreneurs from Africa and Poland. The main goal of the Congress was to promote development of business relations between Poland and Africa. For this event, in cooperation with THINKTANK, CIR prepared a Lexicon of African Countries in English. The organizers of the Congress recognized potential, good offer and attractiveness of all African countries, which in their opinion should have better access to the European market in order to increase their competitiveness and enjoy benefits of increased trade volume. The Congress also included an expo where Polish and African companies showed their offer and opportunities.
