The need to strengthen the Polish-German cooperation at the level of local government is often listed as the most important challenge of contemporary relations between the two countries. The problems which governments on both sides of the Oder face are far from grand politics created between Warsaw and Berlin, and are rather solved at the level of local cooperation, focusing on current affairs. This cooperation is also part of the internal European regional cooperation, which is one of the pillars of the European Union. The author of the analysis is the local government representative, Julita Milosz-Augustowska.

The analysis is a kind of catalog of the most important elements that local governments face. The author identifies existing and potential problems and discusses the possibilities of finding solutions to them. The local government elections which recently took place in Poland contributed to the creation of this analysis.
