Arab league summit at Nouakchott may not be called “the summit of leaders”. Most of the Arab kings and Head of states were not present in this summit. Some critics described it as a humiliation for “Mauritania” which is one of the poorest countries within the Arab League. Mauritania held the 27th summit meeting in a specially erected tent after President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz had pledged that his country was ready to host the event. It has happened right after Morocco declined earlier this year. Moroccan officials refuse to host the summit by publishing a statement which says:

“Amid the lack of important decisions and concrete initiatives to submit to the heads of states, this summit will be just another occasion to approve ordinary resolutions and to pronounce speeches that give a false impression of unity.” later on the statement, added “ Arab leaders cannot confine themselves, once more, to simply analyzing the bitter situation of divergences and divisions without giving decisive responses.”

As any summit before, Arab countries has saved a unique place to critics Iran. Arab league officials are saying that the summit will take a practical decision about Iran’s activities in the region at the end of the 27th summit.

As Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab league is saying “ we decided to organize an advisory committee to offer us the best way of confronting Iran. They will advise us if it’s better to open dialogue with Iran or we have to face with it.” For last five the Arab league summits Iran was the key word of every resolution. Iran’s activities in Yemen, Syria and Iraq is the main issue to discuss among Arab leaders. Although Islamic Republic’s President, Dr. Rohani, Always says that its government is ready to open a clear dialogue with Arab neighbors, but it seems that the key for the problem is somewhere else. as Secretary-General of the Arab league added, “ The biggest threat from Iran is the huge wave of propaganda against Arab countries. The Iranian officials and general’s verbal threats to Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia, is really concerning The Arab League.” At the end, Ahmed Aboul Gheit called Iranian officials his brothers and asked them to act for decreasing tension in the region.

While The Arab countries blame Iran for their problems, in the meantime western countries are receiving problems which are coming from the Arab countries. However that Iran has such a big role in this messy stage or not, Arab league should find a better solution than passing resolution for the Arab World’s issues.
