On July 20th, hundreds of persons demonstrated against the French military presence in Tripoli mostly. A few days before, Paris announced the death of three members of the French intelligence in a helicopter crash in Benghazi. As a consequence, the Libyan government summoned the French ambassador in order to clarify the situation about the French military presence on its territory. The context in Lybia is highly deleterious since the military intervention in 2011, and it turned out that the French President at that time, Nicolas Sarkozy, bears a great responsibility in launching this operation . Since then on, the Islamic State has appeared and grow in Africa thanks to the new context of chaos.

Some people burned down French flags and inveighed against the French State, using brutal slogans. Finally, the French military presence is justified to fight terrorism. This new war requires discretion and aims at stopping the development of ISIS in Africa.
