Centrum Stosunków Międzynarodowych - 23 July 2016: Nephew of Fethullah Gulen was detained in Turkey

Muhammet Sait Gulen was taken into custody in Erzurum, eastern Turkey, and was taken to the capital Ankara. It was the first time when Gulen’s relatives were detained in the 21st century in Turkey. Turkish government blames Fethullah Gulen for the organizing the coup attempt in Turkey on 15 of July 2016. Fethullah Gulen is 75 years old Muslim cleric, who moved in exile to the United States of America in 1999. He is claimed to be the main opponent of the current President of Turkey – Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
