The financial aid of over $2 billion is aiming to stabilize the situation in Iraq and to improve the humanitarian situation, especially in newly liberated from IS districts. The main group of recipients are the over than 3.3 million of internally displaced people. US are co-hosting the conference in Washington. The State Department officially stated on Monday: "we believe that we are going to hit that target of $2 billion on Wednesday." There are 24 donor countries, and co-hosting sides are also: Canada, Germany, Japan, Kuwait and the Netherlands.
United Nations, estimated, that to tackle the humanitarian problems in Iraq, Bagdad needs more than $4.5 billion. Currently, UN set around $778 million for the Iraqi humanitarian needs.
*Iraq is facing a humanitarian problems amid the inflow of people from the areas of battles in the Northern and Western Iraq, the number of internally displaced people reached almost 3.4 million, and people who are need humanitarian aid – almost 10 million.
