AKIpress reports that Turkmenistan plans to hold a summit Trans-Caspian gas pipeline project which aims the transportation of Caspian basin energy resources to the West through Azerbaijan and Turkey. It is expected the summit will be held on the level of high-level representatives from Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan governments. According to Trend news agency, the summit is planning to be held in late 2016. The official Ashgabat believes that the consent of the sides, covered by the project, that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan are sufficient for laying the pipe through the bottom of the Caspian Sea, which the legal status of the Caspian Sea has not been defined yet.
Azerbaijan side expressed their readiness to deliver its territory, transit opportunities and infrastructure for implementing the project. Previously, the multilateral talks on the Trans-Caspian project were held in Ashgabat in May 2015. The top managers of the fuel-energy sector of the interested sides attended the talks. Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey and the EU signed a declaration on the development of cooperation in the field of energy.
