Fiji and Japan have signed  agreement connected  with aviation services. It includes modernised aviation provisions that will increase passenger and cargo. It also improves safety and security, allowing for greater economic collaboration between the two countries. This is the first agreement between those countries about aviation services since 1993. The new provisions allow for designated airlines of both countries to operate three passenger or cargo flights per week between Fiji and Japan.

They also provide the opportunity for designated carriers to codeshare, and bring safety and security provisions more in line with international aviation industry standards. These new provisions will benefit airlines, tourists, and shippers, and increase flows of investment and trade into both Fiji and JapanThis agreement ensures higher safety and also has an influence on cooperation in the international aviation industry.
