5 June 2017: US State Department confirms a record arms deal with Saudi Arabia
Washington confirmed the implementation of the arms contract with Saudi Arabia, whose value is expected to be $1.4 billion. US sold Saudi Arabia military equipment and exercises. The contract was signed by the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump during his visit to Riyadh May 20th, during his first foreign trip after taking office. Washington's lawmakers still have 30 days to block the entry into force of the contract, but the State Department’s decision is an important step towards achieving a record of transactions between the two allies. The US Administration and Saudi Arabia announced, moreover, that this is only "the beginning of" a series of major arms contracts between them. Media reported on contracts, considered in the longer term, having a value of $350 billion.
