Centrum Stosunków Międzynarodowych - 20 October 2016: USA and Great Britain consider new sanctions on Russia and Syria after bombing of Aleppo

Emergency meeting on the crisis in Syria was conducted by the United Nations Security Council on October 16th, 2016. Ministers of the USA and Great Britain, as well as the representatives of EU and other countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Italy, Germany, and France, gathered together to discuss the current situation in Syria. In accordance with the last air strikes on the Syrian city of Aleppo, leaders concentrated mainly on the solution that would stop Russian and Syrian military forces from inconsiderate hostilities which are so harmful for the civilians.

As a result of the meeting, United States Secretary of State John Kerry made a statement about additional sanctions which are likely to be imposed against Russia and Syria in response to recent hostilities in Aleppo. Whereas, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson who hosted the conference on Syria, said, “There are a lot of measures that we are proposing to do with extra sanctions, measures to bring those responsible for war crimes before the International Criminal Court”. Representatives present at the meeting supported fight with those who commit crimes against humanity.
