Newly elected controversial president Rodrigo Duterte called the president of the U.S as a “son of a whore”. "Who does he think he is? I am no American puppet. I am the president of a sovereign country and I am not answerable to anyone except the Filipino people," Duterte scoffed in a speech Monday. "Son of a bitch, I will swear at you." – He said. Mr. Duterte was responding to the US president's promise to raise the issue of drug-related extra-judicial killings in the Philippines at their meeting.

The Philippine leader, known for his colorful language, has insulted prominent figures before, but this time, it has had diplomatic consequences. Recently, he’s called Pope Francis as “son of a whore”, named US Secretary of State with a term “crazy” and insulted US Ambassador to Philippines with a statement “a gay son of the bitch”. Later on, he excuses with a remark: "While the immediate cause was my strong comments to certain press questions that elicited concern and distress, we also regret that it came across as a personal attack on the US president," a statement by his office said

“What I’ve instructed my team to do is to talk to their Philippine counterparts to find out, is if this in fact a time where we can have some constructive, productive conversations; I always want to make sure that if I’m having a meeting that it’s actually productive and we’re getting something done.”Obama said at a news conference at the end of a G20 summit in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou. Obama responded with a cancel a meeting with Mr. Duterte and due to colorful statements “he is clearly a colorful guy”. Instead, he will arrange a meeting with South Korean president Park Geun-Hye.
