Transparency Minister Fabiano Silveira is the second minister of the new Brazilian interim government, implemented after the impeachment and automatic suspension of the president Dilma Rousseff, who quits as a result of the leaked recording connected to the Petrobras scandal. In this recording Silveira makes critics over the Operation Car Wash (Lava Jato) - an investigation that has been carried out by the Federal Police of Brazil since March 2014 over money laundering and corruption allegations at the state-controlled oil company Petrobras. The biggest Brazilian television network TV Globo broadcasted the recording and the newspaper O Globo printed an additional editorial demanding Silveira's resignation.

The recording was made a few days before the suspension of Dilma Rousseff and the accession to power of the interim president Michel Temer, who is now doing his best to restore the credibility of his government. A few days before the planning minister Romero Jucá decided to resign following the release of the telephone conversation in which he speaks about removing president Dilma Rousseff from office.
