Late in October Prime Minister Victor Orban has submitted a constitutional amendment proposal, which would prohibit relocation of immigrants on the territory of Hungary imposed by the EU migrant quota system. However, today in Hungarian Parliament MPs rejected the amendment as a result of the voting. Ruling coalition of the Fidesz- Hungarian Civic Union party and the Christian Democratic People's Party (KDNP) consists of 131 members in the Parliament, while 133 votes were needed to achieve a two-thirds majority required to make any modifications of the constitution. Among 199 MPs only 134 members have voted, whereas the rest of the assembled company abstained from voting.

Hungarian Prime Minister proposed the amendment after the referendum, which took place on 2 October. As a result of the voting 98% of citizens expressed objections to the EU quota system. However, the ballot was not valid because of the low voter turnout.
