On the 21 of September, Prime Minister of Slovenia Miro Cerar presented a candidate for the new minister of finance. It is the Mateja Vraničar Erman, current Secretary of State in the Ministry of Finance. Erman has a chance to become the first-ever woman in this position. She will replace Dušan Mramor, who for personal reasons resigned from office in July. He was finance minister for two terms. Until the appointment of a new minister of finance, his responsibilities are exercised by the Minister of Development, Strategic Projects and Cohesion Alenka Smerkolj.

From the biography, which was published on the website of the government of Slovenia, we can learn that the future minister graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Ljubljana in 1989 and in 1997 she received a master's degree in public administration at Harvard University Law School and the JF Kennedy School of Government.

In 1989 she was employed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and in 1993 at the Ministry of Finance. From April 2010 to February 2012 she was Secretary of State in the Ministry of Finance, where she dealt with the tax and customs system, budget and public accounting.

"I decided to present Secretary of State Mateja Vraničar Erman to the National Assembly as a candidate for the new minister of finance," Prime Minister Cerar said in an interview.
Cerar and Erman desire to achieve the main goals of the Slovenian financial sector, which has been designated by the previous minister. They are: transparent public finances, proper management of state assets and the restructuring of taxes.
