The ruling coalition of Social Democrats and the Christian Democratic Union lost the majority in the parliament of Berlin. The leader of CDU party Chancellor Angela Merkel showed the worst result in the history, reports Deutsche Welle. CDU has 39 seats now in Berlin's parliament. SPD in the previous election won 46 seats and they both with CDU will be able to make a coalition that will make key decisions. According to prior data, in the current elections, SPD won by 21.6 percent. CDU supporters were not that active and that's why they got just 17.6 percent.
This result of Merkel's party is the worst in the history of the CDU in Berlin. According to analysts, now the SPD has to create a new coalition, but the CDU mandates for this will not be enough. Experts are saying that they see the real union of the Social Democrats with the leftist parties and the greens.
Analysts also note the success of the right "Alternative for Germany" (ADH), which managed to attract voters because of its tough anti-immigrant positions. Against the background of the migration crisis, they managed to take votes from the Chancellor of the party and for the first time take place in the Berlin parliament.
