Foreign Minister of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn in an interview "Sueddeutsche Zeitung" made a demand on the exclusion of Hungary from the European Union. He said that the European Union is at stake. Asselborn said that Hungarian authorities are treating refugees like "animals" and the democratic values are damaged. He noted that: "Hungary doesn't seem far from issuing an order to shoot refugees". The statement was met with harsh criticism from European politicians.
The Minister pointed out that the European Union is founded on the values of which nobody has the right to trample. Asselborn said that Hungary should be excluded, at least temporarily. He also mentioned the major violations, committed by country which is building the protection wall on a border and violation of media freedom.
Hungarian government scheduled to hold a referendum on the compulsory quotas for accepting refugees. Asselborn sharply criticized it. His emphatic criticism was to be a "wake-up" before the EU summit in Bratislava, which is to be held on Friday.
