The home secretary Theresa May became the new Prime Minister of Great Britain. She took the position after David Cameron. Cameron announced he is stepping down following the Brexit decision, in which voters cast ballots in favor of leaving the European Union. May also took the position of the leader of the Conservative Party. Theresa May is Britain’s 75th prime minister today, after David Cameron formally hands over his resignation to the queen at Buckingham Palace. She is the second woman Prime Minister of Great Britain after Margaret Thatcher.

Tuesday's votes were as follows: Theresa May – 165, Andrea Leadsom – 66, Michael Gove – 48, Stephen Crabb – 34, Liam Fox – 16.

On Monday, the Deputy Minister of Energy Andrea Leadsom, the only rival of Theresa May who had stayed in rivalry, resigned from the competition. Leadsom, who in the last round of voting has got 25 percent. of parliamentary caucus, stressed that there is no sufficient support to "lead a strong and stable government".
May is an advocate of Great Britain's staying in the European Union. However, she announced that she will respect the decision of the voters, and "for her reign as Prime Minister United Kingdom will leave the Community."
