A Chinese executive has been charged by the United States Department of Justice of violating American sanctions, not to mention UN sanctions, which are meant to restrain support of North Korean's nuclear program. The firm, Dandong Hongxiang Industrial Development Company, and several of its executives are additionally being accused of money laundering. The Department of Justice discovered several bank accounts linking the company to front companies that were used to evade sanctions.

In response to the sanctions, Chinese officials were upset that the United States imposes its own laws on other countries. However, Chinese Foreign Minister Geng Shuang ensured China is committed to upholding international rules and regulations, especially in the case of North Korea.
