Due to the growing threat of terrorism the authorities of China, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan have decided to create a "quadripartite mechanism" for intelligence data sharing. In the Chinese city of Urumqi member of the Central Military Commission of China Fang Fenghui has met with representatives of the military leadership of the three neighboring countries. "China wants to create an anti-terrorism alliance with Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan," - quoted by local media. Chinese authorities intend to strengthen cooperation with neighboring countries to combat the "growing internal military threat."

"All parties have confirmed their intention to cooperate in response, as well as to ensure peace and stability in the country", - reported the Xinhua News Agency.

Currently, Tajikistan is one of the members of Organizations of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), which was founded in 1992. A key article of the contract states that if one of the member states will undergo aggression by any state or group of states, it will be considered as an aggression against all member countries of the agreement. The structures of the CSTO members are Russia, Tajikistan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.As of July 2016, China is a major investor in the Tajik economy. In the first quarter of 2016 China has invested $ 68 million in foreign direct investment, which amounts to more than half of the total amount of investments - $ 120 million.
